Darlene has always had an interest in art and won
her first statewide art contest at the age of 10.
She grew up in the Midwest and moved to Arizona in 1984. She studied
art at the University of Minnesota in Duluth under Cheng-Khee Chee
and at Scottsdale Art Institute in Arizona. She furthered her
studies at the Virtual Art Academy, Bill Lundquist's WORKING ART
STUDIO and currently with Dan Edmondson's MASTER CLASS. She also
enjoys taking work shops from artist whose work she admires.
While traveling through Europe, Darlene painted in Fontainebleau
outside of Paris where many of the IMPRESSIONISTS painted. She also
painted in Venice, Italy as well as the United States from Alaska to
the ranches of New Mexico.
She gets her inspiration from the master painters such as Sorolla,
Vermeer and living artists such as Richard Schmid,Stefan Baumann,
Bill Lundquist and Dan Edmondson. She sells her art at shows, online
and by word-of-mouth.
Painting dogs is one of Darlene 's passions and her artwork is on
display in veterinarian clinics where she does commission pieces.
Darlene studies and further's her knowledge and love of art daily by
reading books on art, watching video instructions, painting in her
studio or attending workshops. Her plan is to elevate her art to the
next level by learning to paint "En Plein Air" which is a French
term for painting outdoors from life.
She wants to share what she sees and feels through her paintings
with the rest of the world.
