Gloria was born in Hong Kong. She enjoyed drawing and
painting at a young age. She explored watercolors and traditional
Chinese paintings early on.
Gloria earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the
University of Alberta a decade after becoming a pharmacist. She returned
to her Pharmacy career and painted occasionally. In 2011, Gloria decided
to devote more of her time to her love of painting which resulted in a
body of work that reflects her passion in the medium.
Gloria currently works primarily in oils. She paints a variety of
subject matters including landscapes, still lifes, figures and
‘Painting helps me understand my inner world. It brings me to a place I
consciously and subconsciously created where I want to linger and lose
myself in; a place where I see the beauty of God’s creations and peace.
I can escape the worries of the ‘real’ world in exchange of my own
‘I paint familiar subjects to reflect my inner feelings through color,
light and gestures. Every execution is connected through my heart.’
Gloria has works in private collections. She continues to volunteer
teaching watercolors in long term care facilities. She is currently
further developing in her quest of artistic expression.
