My love for painting began with a tin of Windsor and Newton
watercolors, a gift from my English grandmother for my sixth
birthday. Drawing and painting have always been a way to recreate
and refresh my spirit. Painting is not something I have to do or I
shall die sort of thing....it is just that I feel more whole when I
I like to paint ideas, moods, and feelings using scenes and objects
from everyday ordinary lives. I see the forbearance, generosity, and
courage in living the unsung heroic life...the ordinary life of most
men, women, and children. I believe art is best when it can soothe
and uplift the spirit.
I choose to work almost solely with oil paints. I use walnut oil as
a painting medium and forego the use of harsh solvents. The
deliciously rich colors and creamy texture of oil paints lend
themselves well to my work. I simply enjoy painting and love
encouraging others to explore their own given talents.
I have been blessed with a loving family, knowledgeable generous
teachers and caring supportive friends who nurture my artistic
journey. I believe art is a powerful way to illuminate the beauty of
nature and the dignity of humanity.
